26.5.2024 KATTILA: hot pot for performing experiments

Do you want to see what’s cooking in performance right now? The first ever Kattila event will be fired up at Mad House Helsinki on Sunday, 26th of May 2024, at 4-7 pm.

Kattila is a time, space and community to show and see performances "in progress". It is a space to test a provocation, movement, action, sound, gesture, live image, speech, or public statement. It is a place to share experiences, thoughts, and reactions.

Kattila is a collaboration between institutions, artists and event spaces. It has been initiated by a group of performance artists, educators and organisers, out of a burning sense that space for sharing experimental phases of work is needed.

Each time, Kattila travels to a different venue. Kattila aims to bring those different contexts together to stir the pot.

KATTILA has been initiated by a group of performance artists, educators and organisers, out of a burning sense that space for sharing experimental phases of work is needed. The invitation to show work is circulated by the 'stirring group', which at the moment consists of Karolina Kucia, H Ouramo, Freja Bäckman, Outi Järvinen, Tero Nauha, who each time make an effort to reach out to different interested groups in any way related to performance art. There is no selection process other than that the programme for each event is ready when the time and possibilities of the event are reached and... there will be a next KATTILA.

If you have any questions, if you want to perform at KATTILA, if you want to receive updates or if you want to join the stirring group, please contact kattila.experimental@gmail.com.
