Thursday Lecture Series, Spring 2026 by Catalysti X Art School Maa
An online lecture & artist talk series featuring Catalysti members - free and open to all.
The series invites critical reflection on gaps in mainstream art education asking: Which histories are missing from the curricula? The Lecture Series offers audiences direct engagement with artists whose work challenges dominant narratives in contemporary art.
Each lecturer brings a question that is central for their art in contemporary times?
The lectures are held on Thursdays 10-11.30am online on the Zoom platform.
Our guest for this spring include Auli Korhonen talking about the beginning of Art School Maa, the 80’s in alternative art education and how it all informed her own artistic practice; Panos Balomenos, who has been teaching the Painting course for 10 years now talking about his incredible practice, Minna Henriksson teacher, headmaster between 2020-2022 and board member of the Taidekoulu Maan kannatusyhdistys ry on talking on 'WHEN ARTISTS PROTEST', Karl Ohiri on “Working from Home”, Jane Hughes hosted by Dahlia El Broul on “What does it mean to allow earlier works to “haunt” later ones — can paintings carry their own afterlives?”, Tangmo Ladapha Sophonkunkit on “What is a method to remember my work value?”, Ksenia Kaverina on “How to navigate an artist-curator relationship? What does an invitation to collaborate entail?”, Helen Kaplinsky on “Reclaiming Historical Femininity in Practice and Criticism” and few more brewing.
