Helsinki Artists' Association’s art school and course center’s summer courses at Suomenlinna
Children and youth
Helsinki Artists' Association’s art school organizes memorable summer camps for kids and youth at Art School Maa, Suomenlinna.
Suomenlinna’s fabled fortress, sea and nature gives experiences and inexhaustible motifs for art making. During the course days, participants draw, paint, build and use materials from nature.
The teachers are pedagogically experienced professional artists. They travel on a ferry with the children and take care of the security and comfort of the group during travel and on picnic brakes. In addition to the teachers, there are also assistants helping during the camp. On the course days, we work outside as much as possible, but Art School Maa’s classrooms offer well equipped and warm space when in need. In teaching children, our keywords are experientiality and imagery evolving from the kids' lived world.
In kids-adult courses, children get to know art making together with a parent.
If the ferry travel isn’t needed, you can bring your kid straight to Art School Maa.
Adults
For adults, we offer extensively and diversely different drawing and painting courses. A summer week amidst art takes you away from everyday life, and creative making is refreshing.
Suomenlinna’s sea fortress islands encompass residential areas, parks and beach cliffs. The diverse surroundings offer plenty of subjects for art making – from spacious seascapes to shadows of the fortress archs. The teaching facilities are located in the atmospheric classrooms of Art School Maa in Susisaari's barracks building built in the 1700s.
Registration for the courses starts on Monday, 4.3.2024 at 12.00. Places are reserved in order of registration.
